This weekend started out with a fresh foot of snow from Mother Nature. We’re hunkered down. Yet, I should make something to take to a neighbor’s this afternoon, and all I want to do is binge on Netflix and sip hot cocoa in front of the fire!

The truth is, I’m short on ingredients and really don’t want to spend time in the kitchen. But I do want to see my friends. Weather like this requires cake.
I keep on hand a few ‘dump in a bowl’ box cakes from Trader Joes. I also have several wonderful recipes like our favorite Lemon and Poppy Seed Loaf Cake. It’s the easiest ‘throw everything in a bowl and dump’ it in a pan recipe. You don’t do anything else except congratulate yourself on your Domestic Goddessery.
Life’s too short to spend too much time in the kitchen.
PS – If you’re feeling ambitious, wrap your cake in this paper. Tie it with a string or ribbon. And print a cute label. Your friends will think you baked all afternoon. No one needs to know how many episodes you watched of the Crown.
